Fire Safety Policy: OJ Gyms (24-Hour & Unstaffed)
This policy applies to all OJ Gyms locations operating on a 24-hour basis, including periods where the premises are unstaffed. It aligns with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

2. Unstaffed Hours Protocol
During unstaffed hours, members are responsible for familiarizing themselves with all fire safety procedures. Please be aware that emergency assistance from staff will not be immediately available on-site.
Member Responsibilities
- Keep Clear: Ensure all fire exits, corridors, and stairways remain unobstructed at all times.
- Evacuate: Immediately leave the building if the fire alarm sounds.
- Safety First: Do not attempt to fight a fire unless it is safe to do so and you have received professional training.
- Integrity: Do not tamper with fire safety equipment, smoke detectors, or alarms.
- Reporting: Report any identified fire hazards via the gym’s emergency contact system.
- Exit Use: Do not use doors marked “Fire Exit” for anything other than a genuine emergency.
3. Evacuation Procedure
In the event of the fire alarm activating:
- Stop exercising immediately.
- Exit the building using the nearest available fire exit (follow the green running man signage).
- Do Not use lifts or stop to collect personal belongings.
- Proceed directly to the designated Assembly Point for your specific branch.
- Wait: Do not re-enter the building until authorized by the Emergency Services.
In an emergency during unstaffed hours, dial 999 immediately.
